Police to Facilitate Peaceful Protests in Downtown Oakland Tomorrow

The Oakland Police Department issued notice today that it plans to facilitate peaceful protests scheduled for tomorrow in the downtown Oakland area. Recent protests over the George Zimmerman trial verdict brought marchers to the vicinity of the Oakland side of the Webster and Posey Tubes, and closed off Interstate 880 at Broadway Avenue in Oakland, near the tubes.

However, Oakland police say they will be looking to arrest anyone committing acts of vandalism or violent crimes. They’ve published a number of channels to use to keep up-to-date and to submit information:
