City of Alameda officials are working to make more parking available in anticipation of the BART strike, but pay attention to areas where parking is still prohibited.

San Francisco Bay Ferry issued advisories today communicating extended service schedules in anticipation of a BART strike expected to wreak havoc on Monday morning’s commute.

The transit agency is planning a limited bus service into San Francisco during peak commuter periods, but that is expected to handle only about 1 percent of the system’s daily 400,000 passenger load. Thousands of people are expected to flood the ferry terminals.

For its part, the City of Alameda is making provisions for additional parking along Harbor Bay Parkway, for those using the Harbor Bay Ferry, but commuters will still face a short walk through a ‘no parking’ zone to reach the terminal.
