Public Works Projects Drag On

The closure of southbound Mariner Square Loop has extended well beyond the date posted on a crude sign earlier this year.

A hand-drawn sign appeared in early April, announcing the closure of the side of Mariner Square loop that runs along the Alameda Landing parcel, which is home to a new Target store currently under construction, indicated the closure would last until June 30th.

However, the road has still not been re-opened.

Not far away on Webster Street, new stoplights at Pacific Avenue were installed at least a month ago, but taped over and inactive.

Those lights were apparently activated in “flashing red” mode just within the past day.

An Action Alameda News e-mail to the City of Alameda Public Works Department earlier this week, inquiring about these projects, remains unanswered.
