As man as eighteen Alameda firefighters responded to a tug boat fire that was extinguished by its two-person crew.

As many as eighteen Alameda firefighters arrived at the scene of a small tug boat fire yesterday, only to find the two-person crew had already put it out.

Welding activity on a tug boat docked at Pier 3, next to the USS Hornet, sparked the fire, but the two occupants on board were able to extinguish the blaze, leaving firefighters only to spray foam to ensure it didn’t reignite.

Nobody was injured, and the estimated $10,000 in damage was contained to the pilots cabin.
