Alameda resident and gay rights activist Leland Traiman officially married his long-time partner in Berkeley on Friday, at an event celebrating twenty-two years of domestic partnerships in that city.

Traiman was instrumental in the establishment of domestic partnerships in the City of Berkeley in 1991, serving on the Domestic Partnership Task Force.

City of Berkeley Councilmember Darryl Moore hosted the event, which saw one other male, and one other female couple, officially wed under the laws of the State of California.

Last year, Governor Jerry Brown signed into a law a fertility equal access bill originally conceived of by Traiman.
