Wind Causes Alameda Power Outages

Rebecca Irwin of Alameda Municipal Power confirmed three power outages in Alameda last night, due to the wind, telling Action Alameda News by email, “It was definitely a windy night. We had three outages. Two were small, affecting 94 customers in the area of Versailles. The first outage lasted 9 minutes; the second lasted 26 minutes. Late in the evening, we experienced a large outage affecting approximately 2,500 customers on the east end. Power was restored within an hour and forty minutes. All outages were caused by tree limbs blowing into the lines. After restoration was complete, AMP crews continued to patrol lines until 5 a.m. this morning. Today, the crews are out assessing conditions.”
