Revised Emergency Operations Center Design to Come Before Planning Board

Revised drawings for a new Emergency Operations Center will be presented to the Planning Board later this month.

Revised drawings for a new Emergency Operations Center will be presented to the Planning Board later this month.

Architects will present revised drawings for new Alameda Fire Department Emergency Operations Center at a City of Alameda Planning Board meeting on March 24th.

The planned 3,640 square foot building for 1809 Grand Street is intended as a meeting space and gathering area for up to 50 emergency response personnel. It will displace part of the operations for a nearby business that uses the lot.

The planning board sent the drawings back for revisions after an initial review on January 27th. Except for the narrowing of the driveway from 20 feet to 12 feet, the changes are largely superficial, such as adding entry pilasters and a gate for a nameplate and a call button at the public pedestrian entrance.

The board meets at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 27th, in council chambers at Alameda City Hall, and the public may provide comment on the plans.
