Navigator Systems, one of the original tenants at Alameda Point, after the naval air station closed in 1997, is set to renew its lease.

According to the City of Alameda staff report for next week’s City Council meeting, Navigator Systems, and the space it leases at 1800 Ferry Point Road has evolved into an incubator of sorts, providing “productive, collaborative and promotional facilities for designers, craft workers, artists, engineers, musical instrument restoration specialists, and light artisanal manufacturing.”

Although the lease is not up for renewal, Navigator Systems and the City of Alameda have negotiated new lease terms that would see the incubator rent for another seven years, and receive the option to extend for another five years.

The base seven years of the new lease is worth $574,000 in rent to the City of Alameda.
