Public Hearing on Alameda Point Waterfront Center Plan

The City of Alameda is accepting public input on the Alameda Point Waterfront Town Center precise plan.

The City of Alameda is accepting public input on the Alameda Point Waterfront Town Center precise plan.

On Monday, May 12th, the City of Alameda Planning Department will hold a public hearing on a detailed plan for the Waterfront Town Center vision for the area of Alameda Point centered around the seaplane lagoon.

The meeting is a continuance of a meeting held April 28th; no decisions will be made at the May meeting.

A key recommendation in the plan is a re-alignment of Ralph Appezzato Memorial Parkway “to create a direct, straight connection and view corridor from Alameda Point’s Main Street entrance to the water at the Seaplane Lagoon.”

It’s not clear at this point if such a re-alignment will necessitate the relocation of a restored U.S. Navy A-7 Corsair on static display in the existing oval on that street, just west of Main Street.

The public will have until May 15th to submit written comments on the plan, after which City of Alameda Planning Department staff will prepare a report for the June 9th planning board meeting.

The plan is then expected to come before Alameda City Council in July.
