The City of Alameda is seeking applicants for its Housing Rehabilitation Program, which provides funds for preserving, repairing and restoring their home.

According to U.S. Census Bureau data, the median annual household income in zip code 94501, which covers the main island of Alameda, is $71,096.

Eligibility for the City’s rehabilitation program is limited to those with annual household incomes of up to:

  • $45,100 for a single person household; and
  • $64,400 for a household of four.

The program provides low-interest loans for own-occupied residences, for owners to do work such as replacing a leaky roof, fix plumbing and electrical problems, or bring the property up to current code.

Zero-interest loans and payment deferrals may be available to senior citizen owner-occupants.

Small grants are also available for emergency repairs and for accessibility modifications.

Homeowners can contact Miriam Delagrange at the City of Alameda at 510-747-4341.
