Alamedan Jim Oddie, who had already declared his intention to run for city council, pulled election papers from the City Clerk yesterday, as did Mayor Marie Gilmore, who is running for re-election.

Oddie already kicked-off his campaign at the end of June, and lists Alameda Firefighters, and his boss, Assemblymember Rob Bonta, as supporters on his website; Oddie is Bonta’s District Director.

Marie Gilmore is running for her second term as Mayor, having been elected to the role in November, 2010.

Gilmore was appointed to council in 2003, then ran as an incumbent in November 2004, securing her seat on council with the most votes.

Four years later, in 2008, Gilmore retained her seat, coming in second behind Doug deHaan. She then ran for Mayor, with Alameda Firefighters support, in 2010 and won with 37 percent of the vote in a packed field.

Today, former two-term council member Frank Matarrese pulled papers for a city council run.

Matarrese was first elected to Alameda City Council in 2002, and again in 2006. He and Doug deHaan were the first and second runners-up, respectively, behind Gilmore in the 2010 Mayoral race.
