The Alameda Public Affairs Forum will screen “The Spirit of ’45” tomorrow at the Alameda Free Library. The film chronicles events in Britain at the end of World War II, including the creation of the National Health Service.

Arthur Lipow, describing the event in an e-mail announcement, said, “the British National Health Service differs markedly primarily because it did not subsidize private insurance companies.”

Internet Movie Database describes the film as “A documentary on how the spirit of unity, which buoyed Britain during the war years, carried through to create a vision of a fairer, united society.”

The event starts at 6:30 p.m., tomorrow, Saturday, September 13th, at the Alameda Free Library, in the conference room, at 1550 Oak Street, Alameda.

Admission is free.
