Charter Management Organization in Conflict with Local Charter School Governing Board

Dear Editor,

Alameda Community Learning Center (ACLC) receives Alameda Unified School District Funds for current students. The assumption is these funds will be prioritzed for student learning each year. Yet many of those funds are being stored away for the goals of their charter management organization. Some parents would prefer the ACLC Governing Board to have more budget control. This may result in more funds being spent each year by ACLC on teachers, educational aids, lockers, and other student needs.

With concern,

— Daniel Davenport, Alameda
