Police Issue 168 Citations in One-day Pedestrian Law Enforcement Action

Alameda police report that they issued 168 citations at eight different intersections throughout the city as part of a one-day operation cracking down on enforcement of driver/pedestrian laws.

A police spokesperson told Action Alameda News that roughly eighty percent of the citations were issued for pedestrian crosswalk violations and that additional citations were issued for distracted driving and excessive speed.

The police department also received suggestions as to which intersections to include in future enforcement actions, which they hope to honor.
