According to a report for next week’s City Council meeting, the City of Alameda realized $1,977,745 in sales tax revenue for the quarter ended March 31, 2015. South Shore Shopping Center and Harbor Bay Business Park continue to be prime sources of sales tax revenue for the city.
Harbor Bay Business Park generated 25 percent of sales tax revenue for the quarter, or $501,725, and South Shore Shopping Center generated 15 percent of sales tax or revenue, or $291,354.
The Park Street – South of Lincoln business district, home to the Alameda theater multiplex and parking garage, generated $193,963, or 9.8 percent of revenue for the quarter, a share of revenue comparable to the district’s contribution in quarters prior to completion of the publicly-funded theater and parking project.
The $40 million project was sold to the public as a sales tax generator.
