Alameda police say that the driver of a vehicle that struck and killed a man on Constitution Way on Monday is co-operating with their investigation; but the investigation isn’t done yet.

Augusta Collins, 69, of Alameda, and a fixture on the Bay-area blues music scene, died of multiple blunt injuries after being struck by a vehicle at Constitution Way and Marina Village Parkway.

Constitution Way was closed for several hours after the incident.

Captain Joe McNiff of the Alameda Police Department told Action Alameda News that the collision is still under investigation and that it is too early to tell if any charges will be filed against the driver.

The Blues Brew & BBQ festival scheduled for Webster Street on Sunday afternoon will feature a tribute to Collins.
