The Public Works Department is offering up to five free sandbags to Alameda residents, who must show proof of residency such as a utility bill or current drivers license with an Alameda address.
Residents should be prepared to find their own sand.
The sandbag station will be open the following days of the week and hours:
Days of the Week: Every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (except for Christmas Eve, New Year Eve, and during storms)
Time: 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Location: Alameda Point, on Lexington Street just off West Tower Avenue
And the storms are coming.
The National Weather Service is forecasting a 90 percent chance of rain for tomorrow, with the possibility of thunderstorms. The rain is expected to begin before 10 a.m. with wind gusts as high as 26 m.p.h.
As much as a quarter to half-an-inch of rain might fall.
