Beginning January 9th, the sandbag station will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays, and until March 31, 2016, the sandbag station will be opened on the following days and hours:
- Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday – 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
- Saturday – 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The sandbag station is on Lexington Street just off West Tower Avenue at Alameda Point.
Note, however, that the station is closed during storms, as staff are occupied with storm-related service requests from the public, Alameda Police, and others.
Alameda residents can receive up to five free sandbags after showing proof of residency, such as an Alameda Municipal Power bill or current driver’s license with an Alameda address.
Residents should be prepared to fill bags with sand themselves.
