On February 28th, Action Alameda News used the City of Alameda’s SeeClickFix app to report a broken feature of a play structure at upper Washington Park. City staff closed the case without resolving the issue, and it’s now archived on SeeClickFix.

The feature is a contained paddle wheel and plastic balls, driven by a steering wheel on the “big kids” structure at Washington Park.

Half of the paddle is broken-off, and all of the plastic balls in the container are split and broken.

Using the SeeClickFix platform that the City of Alameda launched in November, Action Alameda News reported it as in need of repair.

On March 2nd, a recreation and parks department official, “ARPD 8” closed the case, writing, “thank you for submitting your concerns and information. One of our City’s Recreation & Park staff will take a look at the issue. If we need further information we will contact you via email by posting on your SeeClickFix Issue. If this is a life threatening emergency, please call 911.”

The case, Issue ID #2270196 is now archived, and no repairs have been made.

Recreation and park officials did not respond to a March 2nd inquiry from Action Alameda News about the case made through SeeClickFix.

Two immediate safety concerns were being addressed at the Washington Park playground at the same time as this request and took priority. Those have been resolved and a replacement panel will be ordered for this component. Shipping and installation can take up to 8-12 weeks.
