Following the successful introduction of a mobile check deposit application, which lets customers deposit checks to their account by taking pictures of them on their smart phones, Alameda Providence Bank announced today that it plans to roll out a mobile cash deposit feature later this month.

As with mobile check deposits, customers will be able to make check deposits to their accounts by taking pictures of the front and back of each individual note through a mobile app.

A $100 cash deposit, for example, consisting of five $20 bills, would require ten photographs.

After receiving a confirmation of the deposit from the mobile app, customers would then deposit the notes at a bank location via a teller or automated teller, referencing the confirmation number.

Alameda Providence Bank officials said the development is to provide greater flexibility and convenience to customers.
