The City of Alameda is bringing back a facade grant program to help local businesses upgrade their storefronts.

The program provides business and property owners with matching grants from $5,000 to $12,500 for exterior painting, new awnings and signs, and refurbishing architectural features.

To be eligible for a grant, the commercial property must be located in one of the following areas:

  • Webster Street Business District
  • Downtown Alameda Business District
  • Historic Stations (Grand, Mastick, Bay, South High St., Chestnut, Morton, Versailles, Willow, Fifth Street, Caroline, High Street North or Stanton)
  • Retail buildings near gateways into Alameda

City officials have scheduled an orientation meeting for April 27th at 8 p.m. at city hall; first round applications are due by close-of-business on June 15th.

Funding is available until it runs out.
