The Gold Ribbon Schools Award program replaces the Distinguished Schools program, as the State of California transitions to new assessment and accountability systems.
Schools apply for the award based on a model program or practice, including standards-based projects and practices that led to gains in implementing state standards and can be replicated in other districts.
In Alameda, the California Department of Education recognized the following schools with ribbons:
- Earhart Elementary School: Math, Science, and Technology with the integration of Music Innovative program
- Haight Elementary School: Collaborative Instruction, Intervention, and Supports
- Maya Lin School: Integrated Learning Through Arts and Inquiry
- Otis Elementary School: Literacy Learning Groups
Earlier this year, the Alameda Science and Technology Institute won a national Blue Ribbon Award, and Bay Farm School was also nominated for a prestigious national Green Ribbon Award.
