A man initially arrested in a double shooting at a Park Street gas station has been released; the man arrested in last week’s road-rage incident on Central Avenue has been charged in the shootings.
Lieutenant Hoshmand Durani of the Alameda Police Department told Action Alameda News this morning that, “after further investigation by APD Investigations personnel, Mr. [Valente] Blanco-Garcia was released, and he is not considered a person of interest.”
Edward Bessonov, 29, of Alameda, was arrested last week in connection with a different incident involving road rage and a short police pursuit along Central Avenue near Washington Park.
He has been charged booked into the Glenn Dyer Jail in Oakland on two counts of attempted homicide. He is scheduled for court today.
Police caution that this is still an on-going investigation.
