The survey, conducted by Action Alameda News through Alameda forums on Nextdoor and Facebook, and via Twitter, was capped at 100 participants, and posed two questions:
- Where do you live??>
- Pick the closest city to where you regularly commute to work…
Residents had a long list of Bay area cities to choose from, or they could enter their own commute city destination.
After eliminating responses from non-Alameda residents, and those who said they are retired, or entered “by ferry or BART” as their destination city, 96 responses remained to be analyzed.
The results show that roughly half of the respondents commute to the peninsula, far East bay, South bay or other East bay destinations. Some 14 percent said they work in Alameda, and 36 percent said they commute to San Francisco.
Many destinations respondents identified, such as San Mateo, Redwood City, South San Francisco, Sunnyvale, Walnut Creek and others are not conveniently accessible by public transit.
The Action Alameda News survey was conducted from May 27th through June 1st.
