Applicants will be selected for addition to the wait lists by random lottery. Units – all within the city of Alameda – range from studios through to 4-bedrooms, but there is no tenant-based assistance. A circular from the housing authority cautions that these wait lists are not related to the Section 8 housing choice voucher program.
Several hundred applications will be randomly selected; senior and disabled-person supportive units are among those that will be wait-listed.
The application process is available online at www.waitlistcheck.com/CA955 and a multi-lingual information line, with no support for the application process, is available at 888-366-9510.
The application period closes at 9:59 a.m. on June 27, however, the authority may extend it if insufficient applications are received.
The housing authority expects to add three new complexes to its project-based voucher portfolio over the next few years.
