Harbor Bay One LLC’s project to install solar panels at 1420 Harbor Bay Parkway has consumed the remainder of $4.2 million of rebate funding.
A prepared statement from the utility did not indicate the value of the project.
In 2008, the State of California mandated (bill SB1) that all electric utilities provide rebates over the subsequent 10 years to residential and commercial customers who install an approved solar energy system.
In compliance with SB1, Alameda Municipal Power allocated $4.2 million for rebates, with approximately two-thirds of the total reserved for commercial projects and the remaining one-third for residential projects (based on the proportion of revenue that the local utility receives from each).
All of the rebate funding for residential customers was reserved by 2013.
Although Alameda Municipal Power is no longer accepting applications for this rebate program, other options are available to customers who want to invest in renewable power.
