I too own one additional house. It has enabled me to stay in Alameda and raise my children. When the current tenant moves out, I will sell.
The only people who benefit from the adoption of rent control are the INCUMBENT tenants. If you are in the last rental unit you will ever need, then rent control is good for YOU. Everyone else loses: Future tenants, landlords, the city’s tax base and the city’s ability to provide all services, police and fire, road repairs, libraries.
