The city-owned utility has received reports that someone, by telephone, is telling customers that AMP needs to be paid at the closest Safeway or their electric service will be stopped.
City officials remind residents to always be suspicious of telephone calls demanding immediate payment of your AMP account; AMP will only make courtesy calls to accounts that are delinquent.
If you have any doubts, don’t give out information. Instead, hang up the phone and call AMP at 510-748-3900.
