The vintage warbird appeared from the north just after 11:30 a.m., having flown up from Camarillo in Southern California. The pilots completed three flybys in front of the crowd at around 500′ before returning south.
Among the crowd was Jim Stewart, of Alameda, who is a pilot himself and who said his father flew the aircraft in the Asian-Pacific theater in World War II. “I just love the 25s,” he said. “Any time I hear one’s going to be in the air, I’ve got to come check it out.”
Stewart said his father knew Jimmy Doolittle, who led the B-25 raid on Tokyo.
