Alameda Municipal Power has been recognized as a
platinum Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3) recognition by the American Public Power Association (APPA) for providing customers with a reliable and safe electricity service.

The designation, which is valid for three years, was announced on May 8 at the 2017 APPA Engineering & Operations Technical Conference in San Antonio, Texas.

This is the local, municipally-owned, utility’s third consecutive RP3 designation.

The RP3 designation recognizes public power utilities that demonstrate proficiency in four key areas: reliability, safety, workforce development and system improvement.

Criteria within each category are based on sound business practices and represent a utility-wide commitment to safe and reliable delivery of electricity.

In addition to performing best practices in safety and reliability, there are also financial benefits associated with the RP3 designation, such as improved bond ratings and cost savings from workers compensation and insurance.

Located in Washington, D.C., APPA is a national organization representing more than 2,000 not-for-profit and community- and state-owned electric utilities.
