An automobile collision this morning on Park Street has left two dead and six injured.

According to a Facebook post from the Alameda Police Department, public safety personnel responded to the vicinity of Park Street and Lincoln Avenue, just after 8 a.m. today, finding two vehicles having been involved, one having rolled over.

A pick-up truck had come to rest in front of Alameda bicycle.

That vehicle was severely damaged and had seven occupants, one of which, a female, was pronounced dead at the scene. An adult male was transported to Highland Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The other five occupants were transported to nearby hospitals with critical injuries.

The second vehicle, a minivan, had moderate damage and one female occupant. The occupant of that vehicle was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Alameda Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation team is investigating.

Although that team has not reached a conclusion on the primary cause of the collision, according to witness accounts, speed appears to be a contributing factor.
