On Monday, the City of Alameda’s Public Utilities Board approved Alameda Municipal Power’s (AMP) budget of approximately $64 million for fiscal year 2018, which ends June 30th of next year.

The budget is premised in part on a 5 percent rate increase approved earlier this year, and a full-time employee count of 95.

Purchased power accounts for roughly 44 percent of expenditures, and direct personnel costs account for 14 percent.

The sale of electricity to residential units accounts for about 42 percent of revenue.

Major AMP projects for the new fiscal year include the rollout of a smart-technology program, Energy inView; the launch of a low-income energy savings program; and funding to establish underground utility districts.
