Alameda Unified School District School Consolidation
The Alameda Unified School District has 17 campuses, including elementary, middle and high schools, charter schools and the adult school. AUSD reportedly needs $19 million to $20 million to maintain the status quo; the District has outlined a proposal for a new $14 million parcel tax. Even if a new parcel tax passes in March of 2011, the District is likely to close the remaining two middle schools, and possibly elementary schools.
The documents below outline AUSD financial history (from www.ed-data.k12.ca.us), student capacity at Alameda’s ten elementary schools (AUSD Demographics Study, 2007), and the District’s options for school consolidation. (AUSD, as of September 30, 2010.) You can also see an AUSD classroom inventory from the District’s master facilities plan.
