Governor Jerry Brown’s proposal to eliminate some 400+ redevelopment agencies across the state of California comes as the Alameda Unified School District reaches out to voters yet again for a parcel tax. At a joint meeting on Saturday morning, Alameda City Council and the Alameda Unified School District (AUSD) Board of Trustees both agreed to pursue two separate recommendations from Interim City Manager Ann Marie Gallant that would provide operational funding for AUSD schools, and stopgap funding to keep the Woodstock Child Development Center (WCDC) programs running at least until the end of the year.

The Associated Press is reporting that the judge in CRA v. Genest, a lawsuit by the California Redevelopment Agency to block the transfer of over $2.0 billion to State K-12 schools, has ruled in favor of the State, approving the transfer of the money away from development subsidies and to the K-12 school system. [...]
A ruling from the Superior Court for Sacramento County is expected tomorrow in the case of California Redevelopment Association et al. v. Genest et al., Case No. 34-2009-80000359-CU-WM-GDS (CRA v. Genest). The California Redevelopment Association, a Sacramento-based developer lobby group, had sued the State of California to prevent the State from re-allocating over $2 billion state-wide of local developer subsidies to K-12 education.
