As of Wednesday evening, the Alameda Food Bank was still short several hundred turkey’s to support it’s annual Thanksgiving distribution which takes place tomorrow, Saturday.

Poll: What’s your reason for not donating to the food bank for Thanksgiving?

As of late Friday,Monday, Nov. 24th, the Food Bank reported having 750, turkeys, the Alameda Food Bank was still short of its goal of 1,000 donated turkeys to distribute to needy families for Thanksgiving, starting today. 1,000 turkeys for 1,000 households represents just 3 percent of over 30,000 households in Alameda.

Food Bank in Need of Some 300 Turkeys

To date, the Alameda Food Bank has collected 654 turkeys for the holiday season. Hank Leeper, executive director of the food bank, told Action Alameda News their goal is 1,000, which would allow the food bank to provide one turkey to every client family.
