Dear Editor,
In her open letter, the Alameda Healthcare District’s board director Jordan Battani calls my recent op-ed rumor and innuendo. She wants facts.
Regarding my personal experience at the hospital this summer:
Fact One: The Alameda ER written report that details the very real physician and nurse failures that nearly killed me…and the doctor’s documentation errors…he listed me as a child brought in by her parent! I assure you, I am not a child!
Fact Two: The Alameda Hospital bill of $10,000+ for the ER visit and for imaging later that same month; all was comped; I did not pay one dime.

Most of the fans of that website, and one a little more subtle in its bias, Michele Ellson’s “The Island,” frequented by many of the same partisans as Bayport, are regarded as “Newbies” by those of us not blindly dedicated to rampant population growth and development. The face-off between the two is viral, rabid and fascinating.

Last night, the Alameda Unified School District (AUSD) Board of Trustees voted unanimously to approve a resolution to allocate $419,000 from the District’s General Fund to continue operations of the Woodstock Child Development Center child care programs until December. The District is hoping that a plan from Interim City Manager Ann Marie Gallant to secure Community Development Block Grants for the program will back-fill the allocation. Additionally, rumblings from Sacramento suggest that the State budget won’t cut funding for the child care programs after all.
