AUSD Special Board Meeting Tonight to Consider Woodstock Child Development Center Extension

At 5:00 p.m. this evening, there will be an Alameda Unified School District (AUSD) Special Board Meeting at the Kofman Auditorium at 2200 Central Avenue, Alameda. On the agenda is a resolution to fund and rehire necessary staff to continue the toddler and school-aged before-school and after-school child care programs through the Woodstock Child Development Center.

City of Alameda Denies SunCal Charges in Public Records Lawsuit

Yesterday, SunCal announced that they had filed a lawsuit against the City of Alameda under the California Public Records Act, claiming that Interim City Manager Ann Marie Gallant, City Clerk Lara Weisiger, “and other Alameda officials,” were conspiring to withhold and destroy public records that SunCal has requested as part of their U.S. Federal Court against the City. The City of Alameda responded by saying that SunCal’s charges are “demonstrably false.”

City, School District, to Pursue Interim City Manager’s Ideas to Find Money for Schools

At a joint meeting on Saturday morning, Alameda City Council and the Alameda Unified School District (AUSD) Board of Trustees both agreed to pursue two separate recommendations from Interim City Manager Ann Marie Gallant that would provide operational funding for AUSD schools, and stopgap funding to keep the Woodstock Child Development Center (WCDC) programs running at least until the end of the year.

Interim City Manager Ann Marie Gallant to Find Money for Woodstock Child Development Center Programs

Tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m., a joint Alameda City Council and Alameda Unified School District (AUSD) Board of Trustees meeting is set to take place at AUSD’s district offices. In addition to a proposal to convert redevelopment property tax dollars to operational funds for Alameda Schools, Interim City Manager Ann Marie Gallant is expected to present ideas on how the City of Alameda might help find funding for the Woodstock Child Development Center programs which are at risk of being discontinued due to State budget cuts.

City, School District, to Discuss Converting District Housing Funds to Green Dollars for Classroom Use

This Saturday, starting at 9 a.m., a joint meeting of the Alameda City Council and Alameda Unified School District will consider a proposal from Interim City Manager Ann Marie Gallant that would transfer school district redevelopment funds set aside for low-income housing for District employees to a “green dollars” fund for operational and classroom use by the School District.

According to a letter sent to SunCal by the City of Alameda, SunCal’s failed February 2, 2010 Measure B ballot measure election cost the City $279,629.61. The Interim City Manager Ann Marie Gallant is asking SunCal to make good on an offer to pay for the special election.

Interim City Manager Ann Marie Gallant Recommends that City Council Deny SunCal’s Requests

In a City staff report to be presented to Alameda City Council on Tuesday evening, Interim City Manager Ann Marie Gallant recommends that Council deny SunCal’s requests to extend their exclusive negotiating agreement (ENA) with the City for two years, and to retract the notice of default the City sent to SunCal last week.

Interim City Manager Denies SunCal Allegations Over Density at Alameda Point

In an e-mail response to the City of Alameda’s Notice of Default to SunCal regarding the Exclusive Negotiating Agreement (ENA) between the City and SunCal, SunCal’s local representative Pat Keliher wrote “On numerous occasions, the Interim City Manager maintains that a Measure A compliant plan is not financially feasible. At several of our meetings, she has frequently sought additional residential and commercial densities in excess of the OEA plan, rather than a reduction in density.”

The Interim City Manager, Ann Marie Gallant, denies the accusation.

City of Alameda Moves to Terminate SunCal

Updated: 9pm, February 6, 2010 – Added full text of Notice of Default document.

The San Francisco Business Times is reporting that the City of Alameda has taken the initial steps to terminate their Exclusive Negotiating Agreement (ENA) with SunCal for the development of Alameda, due to SunCal’s failure to meet mandatory milestones.
