Dear Editor, We are proud to announce a new biweekly Community Access Television show entitled “ALAMEDA VIEW.” Roughly 75 people turned out last night at the Auctions by the Bay Theater at Alameda Point, to see thirteen Alameda City Council and Mayoral candidates, who are vying for three seats, participate in a forum sponsored by the Alameda Architectural Preservation Society. The ENA was to expire on July 20th and the recent application included a plan that was substantially similar to what 85 percent of Alameda residents voted against last February. It called for 5,000 residential units, as did the defeated proposal, and now includes an even larger commercial component, with a proposed 4.6 million square feet of commercial buildings. Sitting Alameda City Council members have traditionally pitched-in to help local firefighters pull-off their annual charity benefit pancake breakfast. This year was no different. |
