By Erica Madison At Nov. 17, 2009, several Alameda citizens requested that the city council, reconsider it’s decision to give tax payer money to Girls and Boys Club. By Erica Madison “They owe us an explanation”, said Mayor Beverly Johnson, at the Nov. 17, 2009, City Council meeting. The “they” Johnson is referring to is the East Bay Regional Park District (EBRPD). The City of Alameda Recreation Commission will meet tomorrow to discuss a proposed diversion of Measure WW money that voters approved for parks and recreation to be diverted to the Alameda Chapter of the Boys and Girls Club. By Erica Madison On Tuesday 1, 2009, the Alameda Boys and Girls Club asked City Council members to divert $2 Million from a park grant known as Measure WW. Measure WW was passed by the citizens of Alameda in November of 2008. The Measure awarded the city a grant for $3.46 million, which is funded by the East Bay Regional Park District (EBRPD). |
