California law provides that you can withdraw your name from a ballot initiative petition by contacting the City Clerk before the signatures are filed. If you feel duped by SunCal’s signature gatherers, you can withdraw your name. Here’s how.  FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Tuesday, April 7, 2009 Critics of SunCal’s Development Plan Ballot Initiative Protest Against Mis-leading Claims by Paid-Signature Collectors ALAMEDA – Residents here charge that SunCal’s paid signature-collectors are making mis-leading claims about the nature of SunCal’s ballot initiative which would give the developer un-precedented power to develop over 4,500 homes [...] When you go out to go to the drugstore, or the supermarket, take your camera-phone, or your digital camera with you, and snap some pictures of the paid signature-gatherers spreading lies in support of SunCal’s petition. Mail it to us at the e-mail address in the top right, with the date, time and location of the picture. We’ll use these pictures to aid our legal challenges to SunCal’s petition. Please write to us at the email address in the top right (aanbletters@actionalameda.org) if you feel that you signed the SunCal petition after being lied to, and/or if you feel the paid signature collectors mis-led you about the nature of the petition.
