The City of Alameda is sponsoring a plastic bag exchange to reduce the use of single-use plastic shopping bags.

The City of Alameda Public Works Department will sponsor a plastic bag exchange event on December 1st, where you can trade in single-use plastic grocery bags for a reusable grocery bag at no charge.

Public Meetings on Single-Use Bag Reduction Ordinance

Recently, the Alameda County Waste Management Authority (ACWMA) adopted an ordinance to reduce the use of plastic bags provided by stores. The City of Alameda almost opted out of the program, but, in the end, did not. Now, the City of Alameda Public Works Department will hold two public meetings on the matter.
