Wind River, an embedded and mobile software company owned by Intel and based in Alameda, announced this week that it has launched new automated testing software for Google Android-based smartphones, which the company says will improve end-user experience with smartphones, by reducing the time it takes phone manufacturers to run tests on the user interfaces.

Alameda’s Wind River Plays Role in Carrier Drone Aircraft Development

Earlier this week, Wind River, of Alameda, announced that it has provided software for Northrop Grumman’s X-47B unmanned drone aircraft that would launch from and land on aircraft carriers and refuel in-flight. The X-47B completed its first flight at Edwards Air Force Base in southern California on February 4th, under the U.S. Navy’s Unmanned Combat Air System Carrier Demonstration (UCAS-D) program.

Wind River and LSI Corporation to Co-market Solutions for Telecommunications Market

Wind River, of Alameda, and LSI Corporation, of Milpitas, announced today that they plan to collaborate on the marketing of integrated hardware and software solutions targeted at networking and telecommunications equipment manufacturers. The partnership is driven by an “explosion of wireless data traffic” resulting from widespread consumer adoption of smartphones like the Apple iPhone.
